This sanctuary is a nature lover’s paradise. We have 260 species of birds, and abundant wildlife, including the shy Nyala and secretive bushbuck. High points on our birders’ lists include the Crowned eagle, Blue Swallow and Black Rumped Button Quail. We have specially opened hiking trails which can take you through the thick riverine bush, or up the hills into the open grasslands. Because we lie in the mistbelt, this area is blessed with all sorts of unusual and rare forms of plant life. The young, (and young at heart!) are kept busy on the famous Ngudwini “bumslide” which is right in front of the lodge, and exciting (wild!) tubing is the order of the day. Mountain bikers have a wide choice. Rugged breathtaking climbs and descents, or peaceful meanders through the gum forests. It’s all here.
